International Association for Bacteriophage and Antimicrobial Resistance Research

Global Summit at Davangere on Phage Innovation to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance

An international conference titled “Combating Antimicrobial Resistance through Bacteriophages – A One Health Perspective,” scheduled from 3rd to 5th September 2026, will focus on advancing phage innovation as a sustainable and science-driven solution to drug-resistant infections. The conference will be hosted by the S. S. Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (SSIMSRC), a premier medical institution in Davangere, India, which is known for its excellence in education, research, and patient care.

AMR through a One Health Framework

The central theme of the conference underscores the urgency of adopting a One Health approach, integrating perspectives from human health, veterinary sciences, agriculture, fisheries, and environmental sciences.

By promoting cross-sectoral collaboration, the conference aims to foster holistic strategies that move beyond conventional antibiotic-dependent treatments and explore phages as viable therapeutic alternatives and adjuncts.

The conference will feature: lectures by distinguished experts, keynote addresses, panel discussions, interactive workshops, dedicated poster sessions, and undergraduate and postgraduate oral presentations. Special emphasis will be placed on encouraging student participation and providing a platform for emerging researchers to showcase their work.

The S. S. Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre has significantly strengthened its research ecosystem in recent years, particularly in microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, and phage therapy. With advanced molecular and microbiological facilities and institutional ethics and biosafety frameworks, the institute aligns its research vision with global One Health priorities. Through collaborative projects and training, the institute continues to support infectious disease management and public health preparedness.
