The German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) is strengthening translational phage research through its dedicated initiative, TransPhage-Net (Translational Phage Network) — a collaborative platform connecting scientists, clinicians, veterinarians, and industry partners across Germany and internationally.
TransPhage-Net provides a structured framework to accelerate the development, standardization, and clinical implementation of phage-based therapies. TransPhage-Net is a national research and networking initiative focused on:
- Advancing translational phage research
- Supporting clinical and therapeutic phage applications
- Facilitating collaboration between academia, healthcare, and industry
- Promoting regulatory and implementation strategies
The network aims to bridge the gap between laboratory discovery and clinical application, ensuring that phage research progresses toward real-world therapeutic solutions.
The next TransPhage-Net meeting is scheduled for February 26, 2026. This session will provide updates on ongoing projects, clinical experiences, and collaborative opportunities within the German and international phage research landscape.
As antimicrobial resistance continues to challenge global healthcare systems and with an increasing global interest in phage therapy as an alternative to antibiotics, structured national networks like TransPhage-Net help ensure scientific rigor, encourage regulatory alignment, speed up therapeutic implementation in order to reduce the impact of antimicrobial resistance.
For professionals working in phage biology, infectious diseases, molecular microbiology, or translational medicine, TransPhage-Net represents a strategic platform to contribute to the future of precision anti-infective therapy.
